The Sri Lanka National Commission for UNESCO (SLNCU) has nominated the UNESCO Madanjeet Singh Centre for South Asia Water Management (UMSCSAWM) to act as the Focal Point of Sri Lanka to the International Hydrological Program (IHP) and other water-related matters of UNESCO.

This nomination is a recognition of UMSCSAWM’s expertise in the field of water resources management and its commitment to regional cooperation and UMSCSAWM will play a key role in coordinating and implementing water-related research and capacity development activities in the country.

The IHP is the only intergovernmental cooperation program of the UN system dedicated to water research and management/related education and capacity development. The nomination of UMSCSAWM as the Focal Point for Sri Lanka to the IHP is a significant development in the country’s efforts to address water challenges and achieve sustainable water management.
