Civil Engineering Department of University of Moratuwa Holds Pirith Chanting Ceremony to Invoke Blessings

The annual pirith chanting ceremony of the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Moratuwa was held on the 12th of May 2023, to invoke blessings for a successful and healthy year ahead for the university community.

The ceremony was led by the Head of the Department, Prof. (Mrs.) Chintha Jayasinghe, with the help of all the academic staff, non-academic staff, and students.
Pirith chanting is a Buddhist tradition that involves the chanting of protective verses from the Pali Canon. It is believed that pirith chanting can bring blessings and good fortune to those who participate.

The pirith chanting ceremony at the University of Moratuwa was a well-attended event and UMCSAWM members including the full-time SAF scholars enthusiastically took part in the religious activity. It was a good opportunity for the university community to come together, celebrate their shared values, and invoke blessings for a successful year ahead.
